How do I ensure that the pages of my web app are distinguishable from each other? Do this by using a good slug!
Creating a page
When you create a page, a slug is automatically generated. Please note that you should not put a space before or after the title, as this will prevent you from creating a slug.
If you do this, you will receive an error message saying: ‘Slug does not match the required format’.
Editing a page
1. Click on ‘Pages’ on the left-hand side.
2. Click on the three dots next to the page where you want to add/edit text, and click on edit.
3. Scroll all the way down and change the slug under ‘Slug’.
Please note! You can only use lowercase letters, and spaces will be changed to a hyphen (-). You cannot enter a hyphen or space yourself, but if you have a piece of text with a space in it on your clipboard, you can paste it. For example, if you have copied ‘Welcome 123’, this will automatically become ‘welcome-123’.
Example slug
The slug is incorporated into the URL of your web app. For this example, we will use the sample web app, Great Stay Holiday Home.
This URL will take you to the general home page of the web app: https://great-stay-vakantiehuis.greatstaymap.com/
This URL takes you to the welcome page of the web app: https://great-stay-vakantiehuis.greatstaymap.com/welkom
As you can see, there is an extra piece of text after the URL, which refers to a specific page. For a subpage, the page on which it is located is also included in the URL.
The slug is not automatically translated, but this is not necessary. Instead of translating the slug, the language code (NL, EN, FR, DE, ES) is also included in the URL: https://great-stay-vakantiehuis.greatstaymap.com/en/welkom
